First settled in 1808, Depew is a great community that was once the hub of rapid growth near Buffalo. It became a rail center in 1892 and was incorporated in 1894 as the Village of Depew. The railroad was the main industry in the town for many years, though recent trends have moved towards more professional and white-collar industries. The village and the surrounding area have continued to see widespread growth, and the town was home to famed poet Lucille Clifton as well as former Packers quarterback Don Majkowski.
